WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE CONFERENCE

How to contact NDEO during the event

  • NDEO will be available to answer questions throughout the event. You will find NDEO staff in person at our registration desk in Renaissance Foyer. Check the schedule for registration hours.
  • You can also email us at conference@ndeo.org or text us at the conference help line number (240-619-8519) if you require more immediate assistance or have a quick question. Please do not text this number prior to October 3, 2025
  • Email and text message requests will be answered between the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm most days (check the schedule for specific hours).

Conference Sessions & Events

  • How many sessions will be featured?
    • There will be over 200 sessions featured at NDEO’s 2025 Conference.
  • Do I need to pre-register for individual sessions?
    • No! All attendees will be able to join the session of their choice during that session time. You can add sessions to your schedule via the conference app but this is not a formal registration. However, all of our Pre-Conference Intensive sessions require advance registration.
  • What’s the difference between Pre-Conference Intensives and regular sessions?
    • Pre-Conference Intensives are longer, more in-depth sessions for attendees who want a deeper dive into specific topics, or who need additional session hours to claim on their CEU/COA. These sessions are offered at an additional registration fee and take place the day prior to general sessions starting.
  • I didn’t pre-register for pre-conference intensives but I’d like to add them onsite, can I do that?
    • Yes! Just check at the NDEO conference registration desk.
  • What is the conference plenary on Sunday morning?
    • Our 2025 plenary session “Dunham Technique” with Frederick Curry and Penny Godboldo will examine the principles that guided Katherine Dunham’s teaching and explore how they can support the work of Dance Educators today. All are welcome!
  • Are there any opportunities to see dance performances during conference?
    • Yes! Our site committee, Michigan Dance Council, has put together a local Student Sharing Performance to take place on Friday from 7-8:30pm. They have also coordinated Pop Up Performances for Saturday-Monday 12:20pm-1:00pm in Columbus.
    • Our Sponsor DEL is also hosting a Movement Sentence Choir performance and Happy Hour on Sunday from 6:00-6:30 in Columbus.
  • I’m new to conference, how do I get oriented and meet people?
    • First-time attendees are strongly encouraged to attend NDEO 101: Navigating the Conference at 8 AM on Saturday 10/4.
    • The Grand Opening and Grand Closing are conference-wide social events and a great time to meet other attendees. Seating is open and you may sit with whoever you like.
    • Community Meetups (formerly SIG meetings) are another great way to meet new people who share similar interests in dance education. Several of these meetings take place each during the lunch hour–check the schedule for details.
  • I’m a student, are there any conference events specifically for me?
    • Yes! Look for sessions labeled STUDENT SESSION in the conference schedule. Curated by NDEO’s Student Initiatives Committee, these sessions are specifically designed for undergrad and graduate students.

Contacting presenters, attendees, and vendors

There are two ways to contact people at the conference. One through our regular Attendee Hub and another through BAND.

  • Can I contact a presenter after a session?
    • Presenters will each have a profile page on the conference app with their contact information. Some presenters may choose not to share their contact information on their profile but you can always ask during the session if they have a preferred method of contact if you have questions after the session and want to follow up.
  • Can I contact other attendees?
    • Attendees will be listed and searchable via the conference app listed with whatever contact information they have elected to share. You can use the conference app to directly message attendees.
    • How can I contact vendors if I missed vendor hours?
      • All vendors/sponsors will have their contact information listed on their vendor profile in the conference app.

Leaving Feedback in the Conference App

  • Individual Session
    • You can leave specific feedback on a session/speaker by visiting the session and clicking on the “Survey” button! All feedback will be given to presenters anonymously. You will need to have added that session to your schedule in order to leave feedback on the session.
  • General Conference
    • NDEO will have a post Conference Survey for all attendees after the close of the event. This will be located directly on the event platform. NDEO uses this feedback to gauge attendees’ experience and to make decisions for future conferences. All input is valuable and appreciated.

Internet

  • Is there WIFI?
    • Yes, there will be WIFI in all the conference session space. The network and password will be posted at registration when you check in and available in the conference app.
    • Please note that the WIFI connection is not strong enough for streaming or video-conferencing in session space.
    • Attendees staying at the conference hotel will also have internet access in their hotel rooms.

Meals

  • Are meals included?
    • The Grand Opening includes a seated dinner, and the Grand Closing includes a reception dinner. All other meals are on your own. For a list of nearby restaurants, view our Visit Detroit page linked in the Attendee App.
  • When do I eat?
    • Whenever you are hungry! Sessions run all day long, so make sure you take time to eat. We do break sessions for a midday lunch break, at which time there is limited programming–SIG meetings, pop up performances, and time to visit vendors.

Clothing

  • What do I wear?
    • Whatever makes you feel comfortable! Most attendees wear dance-friendly clothing while attending conference sessions. Many attendees will dress up (cocktail attire) for the Grand Opening and Grand Closing, but this is not required.
  • Is there any conference swag for sale?
    • Yes, NDEO is selling a lot of great items this year! Our 2025 The Power of Dance tee, 2 different styles of sweatshirts, pairs of NDEO logo crew socks and stickers. You can purchase them at the conference merch table!
