The National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) offers a robust, fully remote internship program during the spring, summer, and fall semesters, providing valuable hands-on experience in the nonprofit arts sector. Internships are available in a variety of focus areas including marketing, conference planning, honor society, administration, executive assistance, and most recently, online learning design through our OPDI (Online Professional Development Institute). Interns work closely with NDEO staff on real-time projects that strengthen their skills in communication, organization, administration, research, and collaboration, while contributing meaningfully to the organization's mission. Each internship typically spans 10-15 hours per week over a 12–16 week period. Participants meet weekly with their manager, collaborate across departments, and may have opportunities to assist with high-profile national programs and events. The program is ideal for undergraduate or graduate students and recent graduates pursuing careers in dance, education, arts administration, instructional design, or nonprofit leadership. Past interns have described the experience as both professionally enriching and personally rewarding, offering insight into the inner workings of a national arts organization.

NDEO’s Journal of Dance Education (JoDE) is seeking a highly motivated intern to join our team on a remote basis. As part of this administrative internship, the intern will spend their time working with JoDE’s Editor-in-Chief and Sr. Associate Editors on tasks related to the submission, peer review, and publication processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in dance education research and scholarship and publishing as well as a dance and/or dance education background.
