Elevating Technique and Wellbeing in Dance Pedagogical Approaches My thesis research is about finding the balance of focusing on technique and wellbeing in a dance technique class. I'm hoping to have participants take a 10 minute survey. There are two surveys one could take. There is a student survey that is for students who are 18+ and have taken one dance technique class per week over the course of at least 10 weeks in the last three years. There is also a professor survey for anyone 18+ who has taught in a college/university setting and holds an instructor/professor title. 1/1/2026 University of Oregon

Motivations and Values Across Dance Genres and Generations

This study explores how different styles of dance in the United States (including Indigenous forms, Western forms, African Diasporic forms, Latin forms, and Asian Diasporic forms) impact expert practitioners’ experiences of motivation, interoception, empathy, and ecological awareness. I would be honored if dance educators, who are over 18 years of age and based in the U.S., would be willing to participate in this research by completing the survey below. It will take you 25-30 minutes to complete, and I am asking that you complete it by 10/30/25.

Your contribution will benefit dance education in many ways. The results will help us to understand differences between generations of dance educators, as well as the range of values and motivators that are prevalent across different genres of dance education.
