All students, including those with developmental disabilities, deserve access to rigorous and in-depth dance experiences, including technique and dance making. We must find the appropriate adaptations to allow for ample participation by our students cognitive and intellectual disabilities. We must advocate for the needs of our students as each student is different and deserves the necessary support. We will provide tools to guide you in your journey to bring dance to every student including resources, tips, lessons, and Google Slides Shows. This webinar will be helpful for those dance educators with existing programs that would like to be reinvigorated, as well as those just starting that need support with adaptations, lesson planning, and effective instruction while honoring artistry.

reviously known as SIGS) allow you to connect with fellow dance educators to discuss the important concerns and issues of your sector/community of the dance field. Learn from other teachers currently working in the field and support one another through this challenging time. One-hour long sessions; no recordings available. Meetings are scheduled and set up by staff on a rolling basis. Be sure to subscribe to forums of interest to you to stay up to date on scheduled meetings and other important virtual meeting happenings.

How do we, as dance educators, facilitate conversations around consent, boundaries, and needs in the dance studio that honor the bodily autonomy of dancers AND encourage creative risk-taking?
Join Intimacy Direction in Dance co-founder, and author of Care-full Creativity in Theatre and Dance Education: Consent-Forward, Trauma-Informed, Psychologically Safe Movement Pedagogy, Nicole Perry for practical tools and conversations around consent (which goes far beyond touch) and creativity. Nicole is an award-winning intimacy professional and choreographer, as well as a dance and movement educator, passionate about supporting other teachers as they create their own pedagogies of care. This webinar offers a practical tool to help students as discomfort v. unsafe, a template for boundary conversations, and a discussion on when an Intimacy Professional can support the creative process in a way that benefits both the dancers and the choreographer.

Nicole Perry, MFA, CLMA, CIC/D is a 3-time Silver Palm award-winning movement professional, working as an intimacy director and coordinator and dance choreographer in South Florida. Career highlights include 3 Broward County Artist Investment Grants for dance and intimacy coordination for God Forbid (Hulu). Nicole has taught Movement and Dance for several South Florida institutions including the Palm Beach County School District and the University of Miami. Nicole is the Director of Praxis and Certification at the Intimacy Professionals Education Collective and a co-founder of Intimacy Direction in Dance. She is a certified trauma-informed coach and trauma debriefing facilitator. She has written about and been interviewed for publications on consent and trauma practices in dance and theatre since 2021. She is the author Care-full Creativity in Theatre and Dance Education: Consent-Forward, Trauma-Informed, Psychologically Safe Movement Pedagogy, a text for theatre and/or dance teachers, available from Routledge.

Application is NOW OPEN! The application will close May 31, 2026
Volunteers are scheduled for a total of 8 -12 hours over conference in 2 to 3-hour shifts. Volunteer duties include: assisting presenters using AV; answering general attendee questions about event and providing directions; helping attendees download and use the conference app; and checking in conference attendees. Volunteers receive complimentary conference attendance and are free to attend sessions when they are not working.
